It all started when…
Khrys McKinney worked in an environment that was highly exclusive. Only the best of the best were welcomed. Fighting youthful imposter syndrome in those early years, one thing became clear while working in that environment. Outsiders were challenged upon entry. Those seeking to do business with the organization as well as those seeking employment there, were put to the task in proving their worthiness to acceptance. Khrys learned that culture as a young impressionable professional. However, one day she awakened to the thought that she might want to do something different one day. That office was not consistent with her long term vision for her career. The very people that she had rallied with others to challenge, would possibly be the advocates she needed to transition beyond that institution. She had an epiphany, that she needed to change course and become the office unicorn who sought to attract rather than repel, accept rather than reject, and say yes rather than say no. Those lessons continued for more than 20 years after that including founding professional development associations, performing training, providing lectures in legal technology, leading in big law technology organizations, managing big data, and meeting all kinds of people along the way.
